The Associate Director of Graduate Careers is an integral member of the Law Center's Office of Graduate Careers (OGC) team, and exists to provide career-related and externship counseling to over 700+ U.S.- and foreign-trained residential and online LL.M. students and alumni. The Associate Director will also develop and implement career programs for the graduate student population, including skills workshops, panel discussions and information sessions, and provide assistance to the Office of Graduate Careers team. Additionally, the Associate Director will conduct outreach, develop and implement marketing initiatives to promote LL.M. students to potential employers, and assist the Graduate Careers team in developing and managing job, internship and externship opportunities for LL.M. students. The Associate Director is responsible for implementing on campus interview programs when requested by employers and assisting with the implementation of the Taxation Interview Program, the International Student Interview Program, publication of a weekly LL.M. Newsletter, and updating the Graduate Careers website. Duties include, but are not limited to: Provide in-person and virtual career counseling and externship assistance to both U.S.-and foreign trained LL.M. students and alumni. Develop, coordinate, implement and present career and professional development workshops, programs and other related activities for LL.M. students. Co-lead the production and publication of the weekly Graduate Careers LL.M. Newsletter. Develop marketing materials and conduct outreach to domestic and international employers about the Law Center's Graduate students and programs. Manage the LL.M. Post-Graduate Funded Fellowships Program. Lead the annual review of OGC's website resources and handouts. Liaise with the Office of Alumni Affairs and relevant student groups on events and programs. Manage Fall marketing and Spring Resume Collections with the Assistant Director. This position will be a part of the Office of Graduate Careers team, which consists of an Assistant Dean, Director, Associate Director, Assistant Director, the Director of Externships and the Manager of Recruitment and Programming. In addition, because this position will provide career and externship advice to foreign-trained LL.M. students, this position will also work closely with the Office of Graduate and International Programs. This position will report directly to the Assistant Dean of OGC. Requirements and qualifications: Position requires a JD degree Experience practicing law for at least four years is required Minimum 5 years of career advising experience or significant program leadership or coaching is required Requires knowledge of and interest in law school administration Demonstrated track record in developing and implementing new initiatives Demonstrated track record in administering programs Demonstrated track record in conducting successful marketing Excellent oral and written communication skills demonstrated by strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills. Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to make presentations and communicate with students on a one-on-one and group basis, helping them identify their professional and personal strengths, skills and abilities needed for a successful job search Commitment to working with a diverse student body and faculty with a team approach to problem solving Knowledge of market practices within the legal employment market and the legal job market Knowledge of legal resume and cover letter formats. Knowledge of methods and procedures for seeking professional legal employment, and of legal employers and their hiring needs with a high energy level for student service Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment, and to work on multiple tasks while creating marketing pieces Attention to detail and organized Foreign language proficiency is a plus Some domestic and international travel may be required. Mentoring experience preferred Technical qualifications: Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google documents Demonstrated ability in computer and other office equipment Knowledge of Symplicity Career Services Management (CSM) system preferred Understanding of career services databases and online resources Work mode designation: This position has been designated as Hybrid. Pay range: The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $54,616.00 - $100,493.33 Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
