Position Summary:
The Assistant FSO/Industrial Security Representative supports the Facility Security Officer in administering and enforcing the organization's security policies in compliance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), DCSA regulations, and company policies. This role helps maintain compliance with all government security requirements for classified contracts and supports personnel and physical security programs.
Key Responsibilities: Assist the FSO in implementing and managing all aspects of the industrial security program. Maintain personnel security records and submit security clearance applications via DISS (Defense Information System for Security). Conduct and document briefings, debriefings, and annual security training. Support the preparation and submission of visit authorizations (VARs), and escort visitors. Perform security pre-screening for subcontractors and consultants. Monitor and update classified information systems and control access to secure areas. Assist with security self-inspections and audits; act as alternate POC for security compliance inspections and audits. Maintain document control registers for classified materials; oversee proper marking, transmission, and destruction. Maintain physical security measures including intrusion detection system, access control and surveillance system operations. Support incident reporting, investigations, and mitigation efforts related to security violations or suspicious contacts. Assist with Insider Threat Program. Support compliance with NISPOM, DoD Manuals, ICDs, and company procedures.
Education and Experience Minimum 2 years of experience in a security-related role, preferably within a government security setting.
Required Citizenship and Security Clearance US Citizenship is required Secret/Top Secret or Ability to obtain Secret/Top Secret clearance.
Required Qualifications: Working knowledge of NISPOM, Intelligence Community Directives, and associated industrial security policies and regulations. Familiarity with security clearance processes.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience supporting Defense Contractors or cleared facilities. Familiarity with security systems and tools such as DISS, NISS, NCAISS, e-APP, and NBIS. FSO training certificate from DCSA for Possessing Facilities. Experience developing and implementing OPSEC plans. Knowledge of Access Control and Intrusion Detection Systems. Experience conducting Security Incident inquiries. Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels, including external government agencies. Good listening skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
