Hawaiʻi State Department of Education Description The authorized level of the position is Audio Visual Tech III. Applications are being accepted down to the Audio Visual Tech I in the event of recruiting difficulties. Salary Range: Audio Visual Tech I, BC-07: $5,256.00 Audio Visual Tech II, BC-11: $6,300.00 Audio Visual Tech III, BC-12: $6,542.00 Examples of Duties Operates all equipment and controls. Performs preventive maintenance work including changing weak tubes, lubricating, cleaning, and replacing or adjusting recording heads. Does repair work utilizing electrical testing devices such as oscilloscopes and signal generators. Makes modifications like installing new mounts for projection equipment, T.V. tuners, amplifiers, and remote control devices. Explains technical use of facilities, equipment, and controls to faculty, staff, and others. Records closed-circuit television programs and checks quality of television playbacks. Trains student helpers and oversees equipment operation. Arranges for operators during evening and weekend use. Maintains records and requisitions supplies. May assist in selecting new equipment and supervise lower-level technicians. Minimum Qualifications Experience Requirements : Applicants must have the experience described below or an equivalent combination of training and experience: Audio-Visual Tech I: 1 year Audio-Visual Tech II: 2 years Audio-Visual Tech III: 3+ years, including making mechanical and electronic repairs to television equipment. Supervisory Experience : Demonstrated supervisory aptitude through leadership roles or training. Quality of Experience : Overall experience must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position. Substitutions Allowed : Certificates in electronics, specialized training, or coursework may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis. Lifting Requirements : Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds unassisted and 100 pounds with assistance or equipment.
