We are seeking an experienced and detailed oriented Benefit Specialist to manage and administer employee benefits program across multiple facilities in the United States and Canada. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance, enhancing employee experience, and supporting HR operations across diverse locations and time zones. This ideal candidate will bring a deep knowledge of both U.S. and Canadian benefit landscapes and thrive in a fast-paced, multi-site environment. What would a typical day be like? Administer and manage health, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans (401K/RRSP) for U.S. and Canadian employees. Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations accurately and timely. Leave (FMLA, STD) Administration. Conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity and compliance. Compliance and Reporting Ensure adherence to U.S. (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ACA) and Canadian (provincial and federal) benefit regulations. Prepare and support internal and external audits and compliance Employee Support and communication Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries, claims and leave of absence questions. Conduct benefit orientations, open enrollment sessions, and ongoing education initiatives. Collaborate with brokers, consultants, and third-party vendors to evaluate plan performance and resolve service issues. Participate in annual plan review and RFP processes. Payroll and HRIS Coordination Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate benefit deductions and adjustments. Maintain and update benefit dates in HRIS systems. Process Improvements & Projects Identify opportunities to streamline benefits processes and enhance employee experience. Support special projects, including M & A integration, wellness initiatives, and systems upgrades. What qualifies you for this opportunity? Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience. Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in benefit administration, with direct exposure to both U.S. and Canadian benefits. Proficiency in HRIS systems (UKG preferred), Microsoft office Suite, and benefit platforms. Strong understanding of U.S. and Canadian benefit regulations and retirement programs. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage confidential information with discretion. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
