The Display Optical Metrology (DOM) Team at Meta focuses on inventing new metrology and characterization methods for AR displays to move the state-of-art display and optical technologies forward for AR products, which gives people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. The DOM team is looking for an experienced Metrology Automation Engineer who will work with cross functional teams to define the requirements, lead the development, qualification and implementation of optical metrology equipment for characterizing optical modules and systems in AR products. Optical Metrology Engineer Responsibilities
Define, design and develop optical metrology solutions including hardware engineering, test software implementation, and instrument qualification Lead code development for image/data analysis and lead optimization to increase throughput Following product requirements develop automated test scripts working with cross functional partners Develop benchtop and production instrumentation to characterize complex optical modules and systems Collect and perform statistical analysis on metrology data to correlate to performance metrics Explore novel optical metrology technologies and work with suppliers on prototype development Support full cycle of tester development against engineering requirement specifications Establish and perform tester alignment and calibration procedures and ensure testers are performing as intended and providing accurate data Up to 20% domestic and international travel is required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Optical, Electrical Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience 2+ years of experience in test automation (instrument control, data collection and analysis) using LabView, Matlab or Python In-depth knowledge of tester hardware control (e.g. driving board, camera, stage, laser controller, DMM control etc.), experience with developing drivers in Python Knowledge of geometric optics, image quality metrics, optical metrology and characterization Experience in statistical data analysis using Minitab or JMP Experience with cross functional communication and program updates Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Computer Sciences, Optics or equivalent engineering discipline Familiarity with display or camera image quality metrics Familiarity with colorimeter, spectrometer, and alignment laser/sensor Experience in image processing and machine learning Experience in bring-up of optical test station for mass production in consumer electronics
