Ready to join? We are looking for a temp to hire, full-time Cash Application Specialist to be based at the corporate office near Oak Brook, IL. The Cash Application Specialist is responsible for accurately posting payments to patient accounts, reconciling cash receipts, and resolving discrepancies to ensure timely and precise processing of payments. This role ensures the financial integrity of the organization's accounts receivable process and supports effective revenue cycle management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Post daily payments from patients, insurance companies, and third-party payers to appropriate accounts in the system.
- Reconcile daily cash receipts and deposit reports with bank statements or lockbox reports.
- Identify and resolve payment discrepancies, including overpayments, underpayments, and misapplied funds.
- Process refunds or adjustments as necessary based on payer guidelines or patient requests.
- Maintainaccurate records of transactions and ensure proper documentation for audit purposes.
- Communicatewith insurance companies and other payers to clarify remittance issues or request missing information.
- Collaborate with billing and collections teams to ensure correct account balances and facilitate account resolution.
- Researchand resolve unapplied or unidentified payments in a timely manner.
- EnsureHIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality at all times.
- Utilizebilling software (e.g., Availity, Epic, Cerner, Athena, etc.) and electronic remittance systems effectively.
- Effective use of payer portals in order to obtain information to be able to post accurately
- Participatein month-end closing and reporting activities related to cash application.
- Verifies and maintains adjustment records.
- Stay abreast of and comply with all state and federal laws including HIPAA, ADA, OSHA, and FLSA.
- Maintains the strictest confidentiality.
- Adapt to change in positive and professional manner.
- Any and all other duties as assigned
- Knowledge of - medical business office procedures, coding and clinic operating policies and procedures, insurance agency reimbursement procedures and practices.
- Ability to - examine documents for accuracy and completeness, prepare records in accordance with detailed instructions, work effectively with co-workers as team members, and communicate effectively and clearly.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED.)
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year experience in Healthcare Revenue Cycle.
- Minimum 1 year payment posting for a Medical Practice.
- Strong computer skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented with proven organizational, time management and problem solving skills.
Pay Range: $22.00 per hour. Compensation at MOR is determined by many factors, which may include but are not limited to, job-related skills and level of experience, education, certifications, geographic location, market data and internal equity.
