Overview
We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Computer Systems Analyst specializing in reporting software management and data analytics to support critical naval shipyard operations at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & IMF (PHNSY&IMF). This mid-level position requires expertise in application and enterprise reporting solutions, along with functional knowledge of naval shipyard applications. The successful candidate will perform specialized operations, develop customized ad hoc reporting solutions, and maintain application availability while supporting mission-critical naval ship maintenance operations. Key Responsibilities: Reporting Software Administration & Development Administer reporting platforms to support enterprise data analytics and business intelligence Develop customized ad hoc reports and create sophisticated data objects to meet complex business requirements Configure reporting applications for daily operations and optimize performance through advanced tuning techniques Monitor and maintain application interfaces to databases and integrate with other applications Data Analysis & Business Intelligence
Conduct comprehensive use case evaluations to increase functional performance and reporting efficiency Analyze complex data requirements from corporate and local naval ship maintenance applications Create advanced reporting solutions that support shipyard operations and maintenance decision-making Develop data visualization and dashboard solutions Perform trend analysis and provide actionable insights from enterprise data sources System Performance & Availability Management
Maintain application availability through proactive monitoring and performance optimization Conduct daily operational and performance checks on all managed reporting applications Document all test results and daily checks in logs, OneNote, or desk guides format Respond to trouble calls within timeframes requested Assist with resolution of firewall issues and troubleshoot complex application connectivity problems User Support & Ticket Management
Manage user account lifecycle including creation, modification, deletion, and access control Monitor ticket queues and provide expert-level technical support for reporting software issues Submit weekly evidence of user issue responses and closed tickets in the IT ticket system Provide advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution for complex reporting requirements Process Development & Documentation
Create and maintain standards, procedures, and documentation for area of responsibility Document trouble calls and maintain comprehensive records for audit purposes Participate in computer audits and disaster recovery testing to ensure secure processing environments Technical Leadership & Collaboration
Install and configure third-party application software patches and upgrades for enterprise applications Ensure technical problem resolution through cooperative relationships with divisions and branches Implement system changes and administer access using approved IT security policies and guidelines Create, develop, and oversee local processes ensuring compliance with shipyard regulations Stakeholder Communication & Project Support
Communicate effectively with all organizational levels to ensure project success and user needs identification Make presentations to diverse audiences within the shipyard community and external organizations Participate in technical evaluations across various meetings, committees, and working groups Conduct process analysis of existing procedures and systems to determine cost/benefit of new initiatives Support testing preparation, project rollouts, and software upgrade discussions Qualifications: Education:
Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field; OR 2 years of relevant experience in business intelligence, reporting software, or data analytics Experience:
2-5 years of experience in business intelligence, reporting software, and data analytics Certifications:
Security+ CE. Additional related certifications preferred. Technical Skills:
Advanced expertise in SAP Business Objects (Universe Designer, Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports) and QLIK (QlikView, QlikSense) Advanced SQL skills with MS SQL Server and Oracle databases, mining and ETL processes Advanced analytics, statistical analysis, data visualization, and dashboard development Application configuration, performance tuning, user management, and troubleshooting
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for complex data challenges Excellent communication skills for technical presentations and stakeholder interaction Ability to translate business requirements into technical reporting solutions Self-motivated with ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Detail-oriented with strong documentation and process improvement skills
This position may require night, weekend or holiday support. Active Secret security clearance.
