Join to apply for the DIRECTOR, CODE COMPLIANCE role at City of Miami Nature of Work This is a professional high-level position responsible for directing, planning, and administering the operations for the Code Compliance Department. Reports to the City Manager or designee. Essential Functions The incumbent manages and administers the day-to-day operations of the office through subordinate supervisors; develops procedures and implements policies; develops the department's budget and manages cost controls; represents the City at various meetings, makes presentations to boards, committees, and the City Commission as necessary; responds to citizens' complaints regarding code violations; establishes departmental policies and operating procedures; ensures the preparation of regular and special reports; directs and implements short and long-term planning strategies related to Code Compliance; attends meetings to present budgets and activity reports; performs other specialized tasks as assigned. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years experience in code enforcement, including four (4) years in a supervisory role. Certifications in F.A.C.E. Levels I, II, and III are highly encouraged. A valid driver’s license from any state (equivalent to a State of Florida Class E or higher) may be utilized upon application; however, prior to appointment, a State of Florida Driver’s License (Class E or higher) must be presented and maintained valid through employment. OR Equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a Bachelor’s degree. Candidates are subject to a Level II background screening. Acceptable forms include official/unofficial transcripts showing student name, school, credits, degree, and major. Transcripts must include all details; audit/academic reports are not accepted. Foreign degrees require a credential evaluation report from an approved agency (see list in the original description). Translations are not accepted; transcripts indicating degree completion are necessary if the diploma does not specify the major.
