A distinguished law firm is seeking a highly motivated and scientifically driven Patent Agent to join its Patents and Innovations (Counseling and Prosecution) Practice. The ideal candidate will bring advanced expertise in life sciences and a deep intellectual curiosity to support clients in securing and managing complex intellectual property portfolios. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with experienced legal professionals and scientists across cutting-edge sectors, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and digital health. Location: Duties: Draft and prosecute patent applications in life sciences, biotechnology, and related fields Conduct patent landscape analyses, freedom-to-operate assessments, and IP due diligence Collaborate with attorneys and clients on patent strategy and portfolio development Assist with responses to U.S. and international patent office actions Stay current on developments in life sciences, IP law, and regulatory changes impacting the field Requirements: Prior experience as a patent agent, either in a law firm or industry setting, is preferred Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment Strong communication and organizational skills Education: Advanced degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline, such as: Molecular or Cell Biology Bioinformatics Organic or Medicinal Chemistry Pharmacology Biophysics Cancer Biology Digital Health–related fields Certifications: Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) required or eligibility to sit for the USPTO exam Skills: Strong scientific writing and analytical skills Deep technical understanding of complex biological systems and innovations Proficiency in patent drafting and prosecution procedures Intellectual curiosity and entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving Ability to translate scientific developments into legal strategies Discretionary merit-based bonuses Monthly wellness reimbursements 24/7 access to emotional and behavioral health support and virtual counseling Comprehensive healthcare coverage for employee, partner/spouse, and children Paid parental leave and parenting concierge services Company info BCG Attorney Search 225 Franklin Street, 26th floor Boston Massachusetts United States 02110 Phone :
