Capstone IT is partnering with a leading insurance solutions provider to hire a Senior Data Engineer Analytics for a direct hire position based onsite in Omaha, NE. The selected candidate will join the clients Enterprise Technology Group and play a critical role in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining ETL scripts that facilitate the movement of high-quality data into the clients data warehouse, data marts, and operational data stores. The Senior Data Engineer will also mentor junior team members and serve as a technical lead on mid-sized data projects. This position requires strong expertise in SQL, Python, Snowflake, DBT, and cloud-based data solutions. The ideal candidate is a problem solver, strong communicator, and proactive leader who can drive best practices in data engineering and architecture. This role offers the opportunity to work with modern cloud technologies, optimize data pipelines, and support a growing analytics infrastructure. RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop, optimize, and maintain ETL scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL). Build and maintain cloud-based data solutions in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Work with Snowflake and DBT to develop data models and streamline data transformations. Optimize SQL queries and database performance to improve analytics and reporting. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on best practices. Serve as a project technical lead for mid-sized data projects, ensuring quality and efficiency. Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making. Automate data workflows using Python or Shell scripting and integrate CI/CD tools like Docker and Jenkins. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field. 8+ years of IT experience, including 6+ years in data warehousing and relational databases. 6+ years of SQL experience (querying, optimization, data transformation). 4+ years of Python or Shell scripting for automation and ETL processes. 2+ years of experience with Snowflake and DBT. 2+ years of experience deploying data solutions in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. 8+ years of experience with ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, DataStage, or DBT). Strong understanding of data warehouse design principles (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema). Experience with Docker and Jenkins for automation and CI/CD implementation. PREFERRED Experience with SQL programming in DB2 or SQL Server. Prior experience in mentoring junior engineers and leading technical initiatives. Familiarity with data governance and data security best practices.
