We're seeking a Senior Data Analyst to play a critical founding role in establishing our new people analytics function. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic vision, requiring someone who can dive deep into data analysis while helping shape the future of our people analytics capabilities. Working alongside our existing senior Workday report writer, this analyst will focus on advanced analytics, insights generation, and executive-level storytelling with data. The ideal candidate will have Workday experience but will primarily use that data for sophisticated analysis and strategic recommendations rather than operational reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Insights
Perform complex data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights related to workforce planning, employee engagement, retention, performance, and diversity & inclusion Conduct statistical analysis and predictive modeling to support strategic people decisions Translate complex data findings into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders Develop sophisticated analytics that go beyond standard operational reporting Executive Presentation & Storytelling
Create compelling executive presentations that communicate people data insights to senior leadership Design executive dashboards and summary reports for C-suite and board-level audiences Develop narrative frameworks that connect data insights to business strategy and outcomes Present findings directly to executives and facilitate data-driven decision-making sessions Data Management & Quality
Partner with our Workday report writer to access and utilize HR system data for advanced analytics Identify and resolve data quality issues, implementing processes to maintain data integrity across analytical workflows Perform data cleansing, validation, and standardization to prepare data for sophisticated analysis Work across multiple data sources beyond Workday to create comprehensive people analytics datasets Document analytical methodologies and ensure reproducibility of insights Strategic Function Building
Play a foundational role in building our people analytics function from the ground up Help define strategy, processes, and analytical capabilities alongside leadership Contribute to establishing frameworks for measuring and analyzing workforce effectiveness Support the development of our people analytics roadmap and identify key metrics and KPIs Partner with leadership to develop standards and best practices for people analytics Collaborate with IT and other teams to establish data infrastructure and analytical capabilities Stakeholder Collaboration
Work closely with HR business partners, talent acquisition, compensation, and other HR functions Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and executive teams Train and support HR team members on data interpretation and self-service analytics Respond to ad-hoc analytical requests and support decision-making processes Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
5+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably in HR/people analytics Experience with Workday data (leveraging existing reports, understanding data structure), but not necessarily building operational reports Advanced proficiency in SQL for complex data querying and manipulation Strong expertise with data visualization and presentation tools (Tableau, Power BI, PowerPoint, or similar) Experience with statistical analysis tools (R, Python, or similar) for advanced analytics Proven data wrangling and data quality assessment capabilities Strong presentation design and executive communication skills Analytical & Business Skills
Proven ability to identify and resolve data quality issues Experience with statistical analysis, trend analysis, and predictive modeling Strong business acumen with understanding of HR processes and metrics Project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities Communication & Leadership
Exceptional presentation skills with experience creating executive-level presentations Ability to synthesize complex data insights into compelling narratives for C-suite audiences Experience presenting directly to senior leadership and board members Strategic thinking with ability to contribute to vision and roadmap development Collaborative approach to working with specialized team members (like Workday report writers) Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Psychology, Business, or related field Experience building people analytics functions from the ground up strongly preferred Knowledge of employment law and compliance requirements Certification in Workday reporting or related HR systems Experience with advanced analytics techniques (machine learning, workforce planning models) Previous experience in consulting or similar client-facing roles #LI-KP1
