They are seeking an Electrical System Design Engineer to join their Defense Systems, Electrical Systems Department in Huntsville, AL, where the engineer will support the development of electronic assemblies for aerospace and military systems. Responsibilities: • System level electrical architecture and design • Creating block diagrams, electrical system requirements, cable specifications, and cable drawings • Parts selection and derating activities • New hardware design verification testing Qualifications: Required: • Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution • Candidate must have 4+ years of experience in hardware system design and test from architecture through implementation or 2+ years with MS degree • Candidate must have experience with technical problem solving and root cause analysis • Candidate must be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams. • Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment • Candidate must have the ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams. • Candidate must have cable design experience • Candidate must have proven understanding of fundamental circuits and circuit components • Candidate must have hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods. • Candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently • Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area. Preferred: • Experience with leading small to mid-sized technical teams. • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 class 3 and IPC J-STD-001 Standards. • Electrical design for military hardware or aerospace systems • Experience with high power applications • Familiarity with AS50881 NASA Derating Standard • Experience with special test equipment design/architecture to facilitate production testing of MIL rated components. • Experience designing high-power AC electrical distribution systems including generators, UPS systems, transformers, circuit protection, and custom control panels Company: Leidos is a Fortune 500 innovation company rapidly addressing the world’s most vexing challenges in national security and health.
