This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated System Safety Engineer II to join us onsite on the Land & Air Defense Systems (LADS) System Safety team in Tucson, AZ. As a System Safety Engineer II, your responsibilities will include: Executing with a theoretical to advanced knowledge of MIL-STD-882E requirements Performing MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400). Analysis of engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessing for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance. Working across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls. Collaborating with leadership and program stakeholders from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds. Key responsibilities will include: Performing System Safety planning, hazard analyses, and design analyses Preparing input to safety briefings of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design Interfacing with other engineering functions: Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Hardware Engineering This position is posted as ONSITE and will be based at Raytheon's Tucson, AZ location. Qualifications you must have: Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) Three years' experience with: System Safety Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, or equivalent Safety Engineering. The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications we prefer: Experience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882 Experience in electrical systems and/or weapon combat systems Strong written, verbal and presentation skills Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to manage a safety program and provide directions to support safety personnel Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret SCI Clearance What we offer: Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
