Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our ICU - Cardiovascular Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN.
We care for patients who have had coronary artery bypass, valve replacement and transcatheter aortic valve replacement, aortic arch repair and heart and lung transplant. The CVICU also handles patients with decompensated heart failure, adult congenital heart defects, cardiogenic shock, advanced pulmonary hypertension and cardiac arrest. We apply extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), ventricular assist devices (VAD), intraortic balloon pumps (IABP) and Swan-Ganz catheters routinely. Our complex patient population requires hemodynamic monitoring, critical medication management, management of organ failure, maintenance of systemic perfusion and high technical skills. This unit has a low nurse to patient ratio and resource nurses on unit.
Schedule: This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the day shift. This position will also work every third weekend.

As a CVICU RN, you will be responsible for:?

Assessing patient needs and identifying expected nursing outcomes;??

Developing an individualized nursing plan of care;?

Implementing interventions as needed during treatment based on the plan of care;?

Evaluating care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes;??

Using communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes;?

Coordinating care with members of the health care team and delegating responsibilities to others as appropriate;?

Demonstrating the ability to advance care by applying standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes;?

Promoting a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP) by participating in a multitude of available opportunities; and??

Performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.?
Required Qualifications :
-
MN RN Licensure
-
Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers
-
Experience: 18 months of Cardiac ICU experience or 3 years of any ICU experience
Preferred Qualifications :
-
BSN or higher preferred
-
Previous CVICU experience
-
Certification in related specialty is highly desired.

Certification by the American Association of Critical Care Nursing or in a related specialty is highly preferred.
Additional Requirements (must be obtained or completed within a period of time) :
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire
