Our client is seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Freight Forwarding to oversee and lead all aspects of the company’s freight forwarding operations, including 2PL, 3PL, Maquiladora, and inland forwarding services. This senior leader will play a critical role in driving operational efficiency, spearheading new business initiatives, strengthening key customer relationships, and expanding the company’s logistics network. The role requires strong leadership, sales acumen, and a deep understanding of global freight operations. Primary Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Development
Lead and manage all freight forwarding operations, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and market demands. Develop and execute growth strategies across 2PL, 3PL, Maquiladora, and inland forwarding functions. Oversee the Freight Forwarding Business Development team, guiding sales strategies and supporting customer acquisition efforts. Drive the expansion of key accounts and identify new revenue streams through strategic partnerships and service innovation. Champion the development and execution of new business projects from concept through implementation. Prepare and deliver high-level performance reports and insights to executive leadership. Lead solution-based sales efforts, presenting and closing complex logistics solutions (including TMS and LLP offerings) to C-suite executives. Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline to meet or exceed business development targets. Negotiate carrier contracts and rates to ensure competitive pricing and favorable service terms for clients. Monitor industry trends, carrier offerings, and regulatory changes to maintain a competitive edge. Secondary Responsibilities
Operational Excellence & Team Leadership
Manage departmental productivity, performance metrics (KPIs), and service quality across freight forwarding functions. Oversee personnel performance, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer-centric problem-solving. Evaluate and recommend organizational structure changes to enhance operational effectiveness. Lead, coach, and develop staff in accordance with company values, strategic objectives, and standard operating procedures. Ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulatory requirements. Qualifications
Required: Proven experience leading freight forwarding operations and business development functions. Strong knowledge of 2PL/3PL, Maquiladora, and inland forwarding logistics. Demonstrated success in managing sales pipelines, customer relationships, and team performance. Strong contract negotiation and strategic planning skills. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational capabilities. Education Bachelors Degree required Preferred: Experience in supporting or scaling logistics for electrified or alternative-fuel commercial vehicles. Previous leadership in a multinational or global logistics provider environment. The target hiring compensation range for this role is $230kto $250k.Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
