Overview
This position provides direct support in the planning and supervision of the Maryville intramural sports program as well as the administration of diverse, student-run sports and recreational clubs.
Essential Duties: Coordinate activities associated with team and individual activities and programs for sport clubs and intramurals. Educate and display a thorough knowledge of departmental policies, guidelines, and procedures. Plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate promotion and marketing campaigns for the intramural sports and sport clubs program. Assist in scheduling the use of intramural sports and sport clubs indoor and outdoor activity spaces. Assist in the training, scheduling, and evaluating of student staff members. Assist and coordinate the set-up, execution, and breakdown of Maryville home contests. Serve as a role model and public relations figure for the Maryville student body.
Learning Outcomes: With an ever-increasing number of athletic teams, more and more assistance is required to host home games across many different locations with a high standard of professionalism. The graduate assistant provides invaluable support to the entire department of athletics, especially with more events occurring at concurrent times. The GA would directly oversee many game-day setup duties and the effective execution of events. Compensation:
Stipend for the academic year: $3000
Tuition award for the academic year: 12 credits
The award is based on 20 hours per week for 15 weeks each semester. It is expected that students earn their credit hours in the fall and spring semesters by being enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours each semester. Credits must be earned by May 31 each year. Tuition waiver does not cover fees, private music lessons, books, or OneCard charges. Students will receive ½ of their annual stipend during the Fall semester and ½ of their annual stipend during the Spring semester. Each semester, the stipend will be divided into 8 payments. Fall stipends are paid on or about September 15-December 31. Spring stipends are paid on or about January 31-May 15
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Admission to the MBA Maryville University Graduate School program Excellent organizational, oral, and written communications skills Proven strong work ethic and ability to work independently Proficient in Microsoft Office Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend
