This position with the Admin Systems group provides full technical support for various mainframe CA-IDMS (Integrated Database Management Systems) applications. The candidate will perform all facets of IDMS Database Administration and must be highly proficient in the following areas: CV/DC/UCF System Generation Diagnostic analysis of DC, DB, and UCF Central Version and Local Mode Operation Journal management Performance analysis and troubleshooting Backup and recovery concepts As well as being an expert with: Data Manipulation Language (DML) Online query database navigation Data integrity and dictionary security Logical and physical database design Managing segmented databases Data management and application development tools Querying and reporting Data structure diagramming Data Dictionary Definition Language (DDDL) compiler Integrated Data Dictionary (IDD) Database-schema DMCL and subschema definition Furthermore, the candidate must be skilled in programming in both the batch and online environments using languages such as COBOL, JCL, and CA-ADS. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Check daily maintenance for IDMS. Resolve and notify responsible persons of problems from IDMS nightly maintenance jobs, IDMS aborts, Initial Program Loads, and Applications Development (APPDEV) program runs. Working with App-Dev staff, coordinate and implement IDMS Database changes/reorganizations such as resizing database areas, adding a new segment to a segmented database, and modifying records, elements, and/or indexes. Add/Modify IDMS Database security at the platform, application, and user levels. Process security requests for access (RFAs) to complete IDMS user security updates. Resolve Service Center calls directed to Data Administration for IDMS. Complete HELPDESK IDMS printer requests for end users. Provide support to IDMS APPDEV staff. Complete special requests as needed. Create/Modify batch/online programs using languages such as COBOL, DC COBOL, JCL, and CA ADS to address business needs and/or fix production issues. Test, migrate, and document the solutions. Train state staff to eventually assume DBA duties.
