AI Systems Engineer
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

What You'll Do:
As a strong software developer, you will develop AI systems at production quality and be responsible for:
- Designing and building end-to-end AI/ML pipelines for model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
- Developing and maintaining scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant AI infrastructure on cloud and/or on-prem environments.
- Integrating AI/ML models into production systems with a focus on reliability and performance.
- Collaborating with AI scientists and researcher engineers to translate prototypes into production-ready solutions.
- Implementing automation tools to support CI/CD for machine learning workflows.
- Monitoring and optimizing resource usage, data pipelines, and model inference efficiency.
- Ensuring compliance with data privacy, security, and ethical AI practices.
- Documenting system architecture and processes to support maintainability and knowledge sharing.
What You Need:
- M.S or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- Enjoys solving less-defined and complex problems.
- Familiarity with general AI methodologies/algorithms, and the more recent LLM technologies.
- Familiarity with SW techniques for AI quantization, sparsity, model distillation, etc.
- Ability to build out RAG systems, develop data pipelines, build datasets, etc.
- Has ability to develop high performing SW infrastructure and systems to support foundation model development.
- Ability to optimize the latency of AI systems while considering the target HW architectures.
- Strong critical thinking, SW development, and algorithm design.
- C++/C, Rust, and Python Expertise or similar.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with CUDA is a plus.
- Familiarity with PyTorch and AI/ML frameworks is a plus.
- Experience working with simulation environments is a plus.

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company's business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $196,800 - $265,700. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
