Job Overview Shriners Children’s is seeking an internationally recognized, highly motivated, and collaborative Director for a major multidisciplinary research institute to be established on the campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. Reporting to the Vice President of Research, the Director will recruit within a new stand-alone facility a critical mass of biomedical scientists and engineers and actively participate in planning and designing a new 150,000 sq ft facility equipped with cutting-edge equipment and technologies to support wet and dry bench research activities. The Director will spearhead the Institute’s mission to drive discoveries from laboratory bench-to-bedside to improve the quality of life of Shriners Children’s patients. The role includes overseeing research programs of 50 MD/PhD investigators and their teams, mentoring investigators, students, clinical and research fellows, as well as visiting clinician scientists. Lead the recruitment and development of 50 MD/PhD-level Principal Investigators and their teams, focusing on areas related to Orthopedics, Burns, Cleft Lip & Palate, and Neuromuscular disorders. Lead an integrated, multidisciplinary bench-to-bedside research hub aligned with Shriners Children’s patient care to enhance patient outcomes. Qualify for an adjunct appointment at the Georgia Institute of Technology and/or Emory University. Contribute to establishing Shriners Children’s as an international leader in pediatric research areas such as tissue engineering, wound healing, gene therapy, biomedical engineering, movement science, genomics, data informatics, and artificial intelligence applications. Ensure investigators develop innovative research programs and maintain a record of prestigious publications and research funding from agencies like NIH, ARPA-H, and major foundations. Facilitate research mentoring and education for investigators, postdoctoral fellows, students, and clinical staff across Shriners’ sites. Promote the visibility of the Institute as a showcase for the organization, research community, donors, and the public. Qualifications M.D. or Ph.D. in a relevant biomedical field 10+ years of relevant experience in clinical biomedical research related to Orthopedics, Burns, Cleft Lip & Palate, Neuromuscular disorders Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor scientists and manage multidisciplinary research teams and complex programs Strategic thinking, ability to direct strategy, draw sound conclusions, and communicate research findings effectively to the biomedical community and leadership #J-18808-Ljbffr
