Kafka Software Engineer and Architect, Lead
The Opportunity
There is an increased desire for more near real-time data supporting event-driven architectures and delivery of support. As a Kafka software engineer, you know that organizing data streams and events can yield pivotal insights when theyre gathered from disparate sources.
We need an experienced Kafka engineer like you to help our clients deliver the critical data. As a Kafka engineer at Booz Allen, youll implement data streaming engineering activities on some of the most mission-driven projects in the industry. Youll develop data pipelines, streams, and connectors that organize and make disparate data meaningful. You will be deeply involved with transforming the way in which data will be produced, consumed, and shared across the portfolio. You will use your skills and past experiences to help push forward our modernization efforts to an event-driven architecture enabling processes to be more efficient and timelier with sharing information and processing benefits. As a senior Kafka software engineer at Booz Allen, youll use the latest architectural approaches and open-source frameworks and tools to deliver solutions. Using your engineering experience, youll work with the development team to create custom tools, systems, and sites with consistent performance and scalability.

You Have:
10+ years of experience in IT, software development, and architecting solutions at enterprise scale 5+ years of experience with event-driven architecture design and development with Kafka, Kafka Connectors, and Kafka stream processing technologies, including Confluent Experience as a technical thought leader and in end-to-end software architecture and design Experience architecting and integrating high-throughput data pipelines with databases, including CDC in distributed environments Experience with DevOps tooling, pipelines, and building containerized applications to run in a Kubernetes environment Knowledge of automated unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing, including Test Driven Development (TDD) IRS Moderate Risk Background Investigation (IRS MBI) Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)

5+ years of experience with distributed data and computing tools, including Spark, Flink, Databricks, or Hadoop 5+ years of experience with KSQLDB, Schema Registry, and database technologies such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or PostgresSQL 5+ years of experience with data warehousing, including AWS Redshift, MySQL, or Snowflake 5+ years of experience with UNIX and Linux, including basic commands and Shell scripting 5+ years of experience with Agile engineering practices 5+ years of experience with AWS and OCP Experience with Agile methodology, extreme programming, software engineering, product management, and software products Experience creating solutions to complex problems within a collaborative, cross-functional team Ability to quickly solve problems, discuss technical solutions, and devise an overarching technical strategy Master's degree

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individuals particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $112,800.00 to $257,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allens total compensation package for employees.
