About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Network Data Center Technician to join our Data Center Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our physical network infrastructure while working closely with the infrastructure team to build tooling and automation. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our data center network operations.
Focus Physical Network Infrastructure: Install, maintain, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems including single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables in our data center facilities Network Diagnostics: Diagnose and resolve physical layer network issues using specialized testing equipment including OTDR, OTLS, VFL, and fiber inspection tools Cross-Team Projects: Collaborate with Data Center and Network Engineering teams on infrastructure expansions and network fabric upgrades Technical Support: Deliver frontline troubleshooting for network provisioning, server deployment issues, and physical layer network problems Automation Mindset: Analyze routine operational tasks and contribute to automation initiatives by documenting improvement opportunities and participating in tooling development About You
Hands-on experience with structured cabling in data center environments (SMF, MMF) Proven ability to manage vendors for logistics, infrastructure deployment, and procurement Experience working with open-source Network Operating Systems Strong troubleshooting skills for physical layer network issues Commitment to analyzing routine tasks and contributing to automation initiatives through written improvement reports Nice to haves
Fiber optic certifications (FOA, BICSI) Experience with large-scale data center operations Scripting knowledge for automation tasks Background in network monitoring and alerting systems Benefits
