We are currently seeking a passionate and service-minded individual to join our team as a Part-Time Library Service Representative, someone who shares our commitment to excellence and community connection.
The purpose of this position is to provide premier customer service at the Circulation Desk and shelve Library materials. This is accomplished by performing a variety of activities, including checking in and out materials, issuing Library cards collecting fines and fees and assisting patrons with general questions. Other duties include emptying the book drop, sorting and shelving materials, providing patron assistance for use of computers, printing and copying, answering the telephone and assist with library programs and events as needed. This position does not provide direction to other employees.
This position is flexible and may change, but we are looking for someone who is available evenings and Saturdays. How You Add Value
Checks out and checks in materials for patrons by scanning patron information from their library card, scanning and inspecting chosen materials and organizing materials for easy carry-out, shelving books and organizing materials. Issues new library cards by verifying patron's address, inputting information into the computer and stating the current Library policies to the new patron. Provides premier customer service to internal and external customers by responding to requests in a timely and professional manner. Assist library patrons by answering questions, locating requested items, answering telephones, checking records, placing books on hold and answering requests for recommendations of books. Maintains Library operations and its facilities by assisting the other librarians, collecting overdue fines, assisting patrons with computer, printer and copier usage, and providing a variety of clerical services. Regular attendance required.
What You Bring to the Role
High School Diploma/GED required. Preference will be given to candidates with previous customer service experience, preferably within a library setting. Preference may be given to bilingual candidates, with the ability to speak and write in English and Spanish. Must pass background check and drug screen. Must successfully complete a three (3) month introductory period.
