Registered Nurse - Pediatrics
Facility: University of Maryland Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital, Inc.
Location: 1708 W Rogers Ave, Baltimore, MD 21209
Unit: Pakula (2nd Floor – Pediatric MedSurg/Step-Down)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: 08/13/2025
Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00–07:30)
Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend
Job Overview
Seeking an experienced Pediatric RN for a trach/vent-heavy unit specializing in complex pediatric medical and step-down care. Must have 2+ years of pediatric nursing experience (non-negotiable) with expertise in tracheostomy/ventilator management .
Requirements & Qualifications
Licensure & Certifications
* Active MD RN or Compact License (required at submission)
* BLS (AHA)
* Preferred: ACLS, PALS
Experience (Hard Stop – 2 Years Minimum)
* Pediatric trach/vent experience (required)
* Experience with:
* Prematurity, AOP, ROP, BLD/CLD, NAS, cardiac defects
* PICC/Central line care, TPN/lipids, NG tube placement
* BiPAP/CPAP, seizure management, peritoneal dialysis*
* First-time travelers accepted
Technical Skills
* Patient Ratio: 1:3–4 (nights)
* Equipment: Trach/vent systems, IV pumps, feeding tubes
* Procedures: Blood product administration, lumbar puncture assistance
Schedule & Unit Details
* Shift: 3x12-hour nights (19:00–07:30)
* Floating: Required within pediatric specialty units
* Holidays: Worked as scheduled (no guaranteed holidays off)
Patient Population
* Ages: Neonates, infants, pediatrics
* Common Diagnoses: Prematurity, feeding disorders, NAS, cardiac defects
* Unit Capacity: 50 beds (avg. census: 32)
