OVERVIEW
The Executive Director (ED) is a full-time employee of the Marion School Foundation (not the Marion Independent School District), reporting to the Board of Trustees.
The ED is responsible for:
Oversight of daily operations, fundraisers, programs, and campaigns
Staff and volunteer supervision
Note:Workflow and hours may increase leading up to major fundraising events.
The ED is supported by:
A part-time administrative assistant
Outsourced accounting services
Generous paid time off
Competitive salary, depending on experience (salary range: $50,000 - $65,000)
No group medical/dental/retirement benefits, but assistance is available for establishing individual coverage/programs
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Executive Director will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for staff, volunteers, programs, and execution of the Foundation’s mission.
Execute established events (e.g., annual golf tournament) and develop new fundraising opportunities
Manage legal and fiscal responsibilities, including budget oversight
Engage existing donors and cultivate new ones through events, planned giving, and grant writing
Build relationships with alumni, reunion classes, and alumni-owned businesses
Prepare and distribute the semiannual Foundation newsletter
Support alumni with reunion planning and database management
Manage funding requests with the grant committee
Lead the scholarship award process with the scholarship committee
Represent the Foundation through public speaking, outreach, and media
Prepare materials for monthly board meetings and onboard new board members
QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (preferred in business, nonprofit management, or organizational administration)
3–5 years of professional experience
Background in fundraising, grant writing, programming, and budget management preferred
Valid driver’s license
Must pass state and federal background checks
Detail-oriented and self-directed
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Professional, approachable, and collaborative
Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and WordPress
CRM or donor database experience preferred
Strong ties to the Marion community, alumni, or district employees encouraged
