Remus, Weddle & Cavenee, LLC (“RWC”), a small civil law firm located in downtown Frederick, Maryland, seeks an associate to join the firm’s business litigation practice. RWC routinely represents clients in state and federal court in Maryland, but its attorneys have previously represented clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic. The firm’s practice areas include business torts, contract disputes, corporate control battles, professional (legal) malpractice, intellectual property, real estate, civil and constitutional rights, defamation and libel, labor and employment, and construction law. While RWC has significant experience in commercial and business litigation representing companies in a variety of areas of the law, RWC also represents individuals who find themselves in need of legal counsel, whether as a result of a dispute with an area business, with an employer, or a neighbor Role Description This is a full-time, on-site position for an associate attorney at Remus, Weddle & Cavenee, LLC, located in Frederick, MD. As a member of a small firm, the associate will be entrusted with an immediate opportunity to work in all phases of litigation. The ideal candidate is highly professional and self-motivated, with strong legal writing, research, and advocacy skills. Judicial clerkship experience is preferred. This is a great position for an entry-level attorney seeking to work on sophisticated business litigation, while also joining a small firm that prides itself on camaraderie and professional development. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school Membership in good standing with the Maryland State bar Strong Research, Writing, and Case Analysis skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Seniority level
