Job Description SUMMARY Nauticus Robotics is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with a solid background in electronics design and proven hands-on experience. In this position, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and assembling electrical systems from concept to completion. This includes designing printed circuit boards, firmware development, wire harnesses, and sensors integration. DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Collaborate with mechanical, software, and operations teams to conceptualize and develop robotic systems from concept to production. Schematic capture and PCB layout design (preferably Altium). Generate design documentation such as wiring diagrams, harness drawings, assembly and test procedures. Perform system-level design and integration of in-house and third-party subsystems. Execute the full design cycle for new electronics development (concept, detailed design, manufacture, build, test). Troubleshoot a variety of technologies including electromechanical, communication, power distribution, and sensor systems. Design and execute verification and validation tests for new and existing systems. Firmware development for embedded systems. Perform technical communication via drawings, reports, and presentations. Work independently, prioritizing and executing on multiple efforts efficiently. Qualifications Required BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. Minimum 6 years of electrical design experience. Minimum 6 years of experience using schematic capture and layout software to design custom. electrical circuits and PCBs (Altium Designer preferred). Ability to build, troubleshoot and fix electronics/electrical hardware. Experience with microcontrollers and embedded systems. Preferred MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. 6 years of relevant engineering design, integration, and/or test experience. Experience with a real-world robotic platform and/or robotics hardware. Experience with various fieldbus protocols (CAN, RS485/232, Ethernet/EtherCAT). Experience with deploying and troubleshooting computers and computer networks. Experience with Linux, Python, Git, AsciiDoc, and/or ROS2. Experience with marine technologies including vehicles and/or infrastructure. Experience with acoustic and/or radio frequency communication links. Additional Information PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to remain in a stationary position. The employee will be required to operate a computer and will consistently use other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. as necessary. The employee must possess the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. The employee will frequently move, transport, position, install, and or remove equipment of at a minimum of 50 pounds for various needs. The employee must possess the ability to observe details at close range. The employee must be able to ascend/descend a ladders and maneuver in tight spaces. WORK ENVIRONMENT This job operates in a professional office environment and in industrial environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This role may require domestic and potentially international travel of up to 10%. The performance of this position may also occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
