Meta is seeking an innovative engineer with strong expertise in network deployment and operations, especially in Layer 2 and Layer 3 switched and routed networks. In this role, you will lead initiatives aimed at optimizing processes, utilizing automation, and employing data-driven decision-making to improve the resilience and scalability of our network infrastructure. You will face complex operational and reliability challenges while implementing both technical and procedural solutions that have a global impact. Responsibilities: Incident Response:
Lead investigations into complex technical and process issues on a global scale that involve various reliability, security, and continuity disciplines for infrastructure covering thousands of locations, particularly during major incidents or site events in edge, caching, and network infrastructure. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, managed service providers, and third-party vendor partners. Operational Leadership:
As a key operations practitioner, drive continuous improvement within the team. You will manage the activities of a large contingent workforce responsible for executing strategic projects and regular tasks, ensuring compliance with network standards and policies. Escalation Management:
Participate in the team’s Tier 3 and 4 on-call rotation, managing issue routing as necessary and identifying opportunities for process or tooling enhancements, skills development, or automation to reduce escalated issues. Risk Management and Assurance:
Collaborate internally and with partner teams to ensure alignment of design, build, and operational practices with reliability, security, privacy, regulatory policy, and business continuity requirements. Information and Data Assurance:
Manage operational processes, procedural documentation, and policies effectively, ensuring the data needed to support operations is comprehensive and accurate. Automation:
Drive analysis of operational events to pinpoint automation opportunities that help achieve the goal of remediating all network faults through software. This involves engaging with others to outline requirements and support their roadmaps, as well as implementing lightweight solutions directly when necessary. Data Measurement:
Enhance the quality of metrics reported to concentrate on areas that deliver the best return on investment, including analyzing escalation issues, fault trends, infrastructure capacity, and vendor performance failures. Travel:
Domestic travel may be required up to 15%. Minimum Qualifications: Currently has, or is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, with program completion expected prior to joining Meta. 7+ years of experience in multiple technology disciplines with a background in Network Engineering, Vendor, and Workflow Management. Network Operations and Deployment experience: Knowledge of IP, Transport, and CDN Networks Technologies, and Service Management functions. Technical expertise with routers, switches, routing protocols, and circuit troubleshooting. Time management and program management skills: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines. Cross-functional leadership skills: Experience in communicating risks and action plans to key stakeholders and leadership. Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to build relationships and collaborate within cross-functional teams of key stakeholders and business leaders. Resourceful and action-oriented, with experience overcoming obstacles and developing solutions to complex problems. Broad and comprehensive understanding of multiple network functional areas and their corresponding business principles. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with various scripting languages. Experience in process improvement and systems development, leveraging automation to enhance repetitive workflows. Working knowledge of Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning models. Experience in Data Center environments, understanding architecture and data center network issues. Public Compensation:
