Key Responsibilities: Operational Support: Deliver advanced technical support for radio connectivity/transport, including 24/7 on-call support for critical issues. MW Radio System Design and Implementation: Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of enterprise-scale systems including SCADA remote communications. New Technology and Infrastructure Development: Develop comprehensive solutions to meet business/Scada requirements, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability. Technology Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing and validation of new radio technology to guarantee performance and reliability. Technology Integration: Integrate new technologies into existing architectures, ensuring seamless connectivity and performance enhancements. Technical Leadership: Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement, and provide guidance on technical and business initiatives and tasks. Problem, Incident and Change Review: Participate in incident review and RCA sessions, and present network changes at CAB and TAB meetings. Project Support: Provide support for business projects including M & A involving requirement gathering and review and translating requirements into technical network architecture. Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed network documentation, including design blueprints, configuration guides, and operational procedures. Risk Management: Identify and document system/hardware risks, collaborate with risk assessment teams, and implement remediation plans. Vendor Management: Manage vendor relationships, including negotiating contracts, and ensuring SLA compliance. Cost Optimization: Proactively identify and implement cost-saving measures within the network infrastructure. Key Skills:
Radio Technology: In depth knowledge of radio fundamentals and technologies Experience with Nokia MW systems, MPR9500, SARS 7705 is mandatory. Experience in microwave radio design, implementation and support. Experience with Oil & Gas environments a plus. Hands on experience with PtP/PtMP systems (VHF, UHF bands), LMR, cellular, satellite Towers and licensing: Knowledge of towers and maintenance, FCC and ISED licensing Knowledge of Telecom sites design development, power systems, cabling, grounding Networking: Knowledge and hands-on experience with networking technologies, including routers and switches Network Security: Strong knowledge of network security principles and best practices, including the implementation of OTA encryption Infrastructure Management and Monitoring Tools: Experience with network monitoring and management tools such as SolarWinds, Sierra AirLink Manager, Netbox, IMS, etc. Good business acumen: Ability to manage business relationships across departments and understand business requirements to deliver on core projects and initiatives. Team co-ordination, planning and vendor engagement to support deployment and maintenance activities. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, networking, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 10+ years of demonstrable experience in designing, building, deploying, testing, and supporting enterprise radio infrastructure. Proven track record of managing complex communication projects from start to finish. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues. Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Experience with service ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow) and adherence to ITIL processes.
