TMC USA is seeking an
Onsite Construction Manager
with
extensive experience in managing conveyor and sortation system installations within the material handling industry . The Construction Manager will
oversee all 100M+ site construction activities , leading both self-performing and subcontracted teams through installation, testing, and commissioning phases. Acting as the primary point of contact for construction operations, this role will support the Project Manager in meeting budget, safety, quality, and schedule goals. Locations of projects usually changes only one time every 6-10 months. The profile selected will lead complex, large-scale projects requiring strong leadership and problem-solving skills. Candidates must be a permanent resident in the USA or have a valid working permit for the USA (we also sponsor TN visas for Mexican and Canadian citizens). | What do we expect from you? Responsibilities: The construction manager has overall responsibility for project site technical, contractual, budget, and schedule activities for site management and installation subcontractor teams Plan project development and pre-construction activities including scheduling, estimating, and staffing Coordinate issued-for-construction drawings, specification reviews, and approvals Complete constructability reviews throughout the design process Lead construction coordination and documentation (pre-construction conference, weekly/monthly progress meetings) Develop scope of work packages and confirm scope and bids with subcontractors and vendors for proposals Collaboratively develop and approve subcontractor/vendor schedules Develop start-up and commissioning plans and manage the commissioning process Coordinate construction RFI process Assist engineers with quantity take-offs and perform additional construction services duties as required Implement scope, schedule, and budget for installation, conversion, or demolition projects (Base Build, Sustaining, Tool Install, etc.) Foster and manage a strong HSE/EHS (Beyond Zero) environment in compliance with OSHA and project safety requirements Review RFPs, lead pre-construction activities, scope reviews, and trade partner alignment Develop schedules and coordinate trades for execution of minor repairs and projects Supervise mechanical, electrical, commissioning, and related architectural and structural scopes Work with subcontractors/vendors to prepare and review change orders Ensure project deliverables are established, executed, and closed Lead and manage the construction project team through site mobilization, execution, and demobilization Review all costs associated with pay applications, change orders (COs), purchase orders (POs), engineering change orders (ECOs), etc. Review and approve all internal and subcontractor safety field reporting Review expenses, timecards, overtime approvals, and interact daily with site Project Manager Lead teams through motivation and direction, often through multiple site superintendents and managers, to ensure project success Chair and drive daily and weekly trade meetings; support pull planning sessions internally and with subcontractors Depending on project needs, may serve as both Construction Manager and Construction Coordinator, spending a large percentage of time in the field Interface with factory engineers and operations managers to coordinate construction in live facilities without impacting production Manage daily activities of client and contractor workforce (managers, engineers, designers, trades) to meet or exceed schedules Resolve problems timely while coordinating with appropriate stakeholders Coordinate as-built drawings with field and engineering teams Serve as the interface between engineering and construction operations for resolution of technical issues Lead quality control efforts throughout the duration of the project Ensure completion of scope to client satisfaction while meeting HSE, quality, financial, and risk expectations Manage self-perform installations including mechanical, electrical, and steel erection scope Responsible for all planning documentation and project reporting Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, or equivalent experience 10+ years of Construction Management experience required Experience supervising mechanical and electrical subcontractor activities in operational industrial facilities Proven ability to monitor contractor/subcontractor craftwork for quality, safety, and security compliance OSHA 30-hour safety certification required Must be able to obtain high-security badging required by assigned projects Proficiency in MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, NAVISworks, Bluebeam Extreme, Procore, and Smartsheet Ability to read and interpret engineering schematics, mechanical/electrical/steel installation drawings Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in presenting to and communicating with customers, contractors, and management Working knowledge of construction scheduling; Primavera (P6) experience is a plus Ability to lead and run effective meetings Demonstrated business development experience Proficiency in planning, assessing, and modifying labor and material resources Experience in developing specifications and subcontract agreements | What does TMC USA have to offer?
