We are seeking an experienced Utilities Piping Designer III to support the design and coordination of process utility systems in complex building and construction projects. This senior-level designer will work under the supervision of the Engineer-of-Record and collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and external partners to deliver high-quality, constructible piping designs. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in process piping for building utilities, strong 3D modeling skills, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach. Key Responsibilities Lead and support piping design efforts for utility systems in buildings, including HVAC, plumbing, and process piping. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated and constructible designs. Participate in early-stage planning: utility room layouts, point-of-use mapping, piping material selection, and space planning for piping infrastructure. Develop detailed design deliverables including 3D models, piping plans, isometrics, and annotated drawings. Conduct field investigations and site visits to validate design assumptions and support construction. Apply company VDC standards to modeling and documentation. Perform a mix of independent design and redline incorporation from senior engineers. Support all phases of design: feasibility, concept development, detailed design, construction documentation, and construction administration. Qualifications
Associate degree, technical trade school certification, or equivalent experience in piping design (Bachelor's degree preferred). Minimum 7 years of experience in piping design, including field experience in design or construction. Strong knowledge of process piping systems for building utilities. Proficiency in reading and developing P&IDs and mechanical utility layouts. Familiarity with mechanical and industry standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Skills Experience with 3D modeling tools such as Revit, Plant 3D, or CADWorx (Revit preferred). Knowledge of building codes and construction practices. Experience with cGMP environments and advanced technology facilities (labs, pharma, food & beverage). Strong communication and coordination skills across disciplines.
