Phoenix (COM-P) is seeking multiple highly motivated candidates for full-time positions as Postdoctoral Research Associates in Dr. Liya Yin's laboratory. The lab focuses on cardiovascular disease research. The successful applicants will contribute towards research and research-related service in the area of translational cardiovascular research. The successful Postdoctoral applicants should be organized, detail oriented, productive and be able to work independently as well as with others. The Postdoctoral candidates will benefit from the interaction with the diverse and interdisciplinary environment at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix. The duties and responsibilities include: breeding and maintaining genetic mouse lines, performing aspects related to cellular and molecular biology research, developing and preparing adenoviruses and adeno-associated viruses, performing in vivo physiological examination to animals, performing open chest myocardial infarction surgery, developing and maintaining detailed records of experiments, analyzing data with statistical tools, presenting research results, preparing manuscripts for publication, assisting with the acquisition of research funding, managing daily laboratory operations, guiding the work of others, and serving as the bio-safety and chemical safety officer. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include: knowledge of scRNA-sequencing, bioinformatics, 3D-imaging, in vivo physiological animal studies, cardiovascular physiology, particularly in echocardiography, microsurgery in mouse and ex vivo vascular activity measurements, and ability to independently develop reports and manuscripts and present findings in tabular, oral, written, and graphic formats. Minimum qualifications include a PhD in biomedical science, molecular biology or vascular biology, biochemistry, physiology or related field. Preferred qualifications include in vivo animal studies, scRNA-seq and bioinformatic analysis, experience and skilled in grant writing and manuscript preparation, and a proven track record of creativity and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. The position is exempt, full-time, with 40 hours per week, a job FTE of 1.0, and a fiscal work calendar. Benefits are full, and the rate of pay is based on NIH salary guidelines and experience.
