Under the supervision of the Career Readiness Director the College and Career Advisor is responsible for supporting career training workshops and activities, critical thinking, leadership, and team building skills for participants 13 to 24 years of age. Associates Degree or Equivalent. The most successful candidates will have proficient Microsoft Office skills, have a minimum of 2 years of classroom leadership experience, and ready to make a difference. Responsibilities: Establish a college going culture and provide college advisement to youth at our Chelsea-Elliott and Fulton Community Centers. Establish integration and help align the High School of Fashion Industries with Teen Center/ Hudson Guild Assist the Director of Teens and Young Adults with establishing academic supports for youth enrolled in Teen Center programs Attend Hudson Guild as needed. Prepare for and instruct established and approved curriculum and lesson plans to students in a professional manner Answer all student questions as they arise to ensure student understanding Ensure students are aware of safety policies and monitor for correct procedures Maintain a professional demeanor within the classroom and mentor students on their professionalism Manage and resolve student issues in the classroom as necessary Engage students in all classroom activities, via methods such as dynamic presentation, effective communication, and personal interaction Ensure students are attending class and arriving on time, and resolve attendance issues as needed Record student attendance and relevant student interactions in academic files in a timely manner Attend weekly supervision's and meetings to maintain currency in the field and continual improvement of personal teaching strategies Work proactively with the Career Readiness Director to manage student issues in an effort to improve student outcomes Work interactively with students to ensure that they are reaching their educational goals Setup classroom area for daily instructional activities including any equipment or materials needed Assist students in all aspects of career preparation, including resume and cover letter development, job searches, company research, and interview skills Prepare monthly reports, enrollment packets, attendance records and other assigned related documentation Evaluate the effectiveness of activity programs by monitoring attendance and performing satisfaction surveys Serve as a mentor for a select group of participants, by helping them set goals and a plan of action, encourage continued participation, and advocate on their behalf when needed. Prepare and operate equipment for group activities and special events; ensure that adequate supplies and equipment are available and maintain an accurate inventory. Participate in community-building activities sponsored by Hudson Guild and/or, key stakeholders and encourage participants to support these activities. Perform other related duties as assigned Working Conditions: Travel between multiple sites consisting of Tech-up location, educational and vocational institutions, internal and external departments and organizations, office and governmental units. Physical Requirements: The position requires constant communication with participants and co-workers; must be able to exchange accurate information. Frequent operation of a computer and other technology related equipment. Ability to lift 25lbs and remain stationary for long periods. Hudson Guild is an equal opportunity employer.
