Travis County . 2 weeks ago Be among the first 25 applicants. Job Summary Conducts direct oversight of treatment or assessment services; supervises the work of psychologists and other clinical staff. Engages in program design and development; and coordinates and conducts training on treatment-related issues. Provides training to staff on mental health and justice system issues. Ensures that Federal, State, and Local standards are sufficiently met on licensed substance abuse and other treatment units and coordinates with staff on grant-funded activities and program initiatives. Collaborates with contracted mental health providers and serves as a liaison between the department and various mental health agencies and professionals. Communicates with the courts regarding treatment and provides consultation regarding mental health and treatment concerns. Provides individual, group, and family therapy to pre- and post-adjudicated clients. Oversees treatment and/or assessment budget and manages towards cost-effective programming. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: This is a job classification within the Management job family. This classification serves as supervising psychologist. In addition to clinical responsibilities, this classification is distinguished by the administrative and management duties and responsibilities performed in overseeing the staff and operations of a unit performing clinical mental health-related work. This classification may require work in secure facilities and a flexible work schedule to meet department needs. Duties And Responsibilities Responsible for direct oversight of psychological treatment programs, interventions, and services. Oversees clinical and support staff, conducts clinical and administrative activities, including hiring, performance evaluations, training, and disciplinary actions. Conducts psychological testing and evaluations, administers and interprets tests, provides diagnoses, and prepares reports. Supervises post-doctoral staff in evaluations. Assigns and reviews psychological screenings, reviews reports for accuracy, and oversees evaluations assignment. Maintains documentation and organizes client data. Supervises clinical staff, provides clinical care, and develops mental health programs. Communicates with courts, develops policies, collaborates with providers, and ensures standards compliance. Conducts research, provides outreach, and evaluates programs. Trains staff, provides consultation, and manages grant activities. Provides court testimony and oversees budgets. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Education and Experience:
Ph.D. in Psychology and three years of assessment/treatment experience, including one year supervising clinicians. Licenses, Registrations, Certifications:
Licensed Psychologist in Texas, valid Texas Driver's License. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of psychological theories, assessments, laws, and standards; skills in evaluation, supervision, communication, and program development; ability to plan, evaluate, and lead teams. Work Environment & Other Information:
Physical requirements include lifting, visual acuity, and manual dexterity. May involve working in secure facilities, stressful environments, and extended client contact. Work hours vary; some evenings, weekends, and holidays. Location: 2515 South Congress Ave., Austin, TX. Department: Juvenile Probation. Background checks, drug tests, and psychological exams required.
