Previous Experience Required: •High School diploma required, or equivalent •Prefer 3-5 years previous supervisory experience in Security field or customer service
2. Specialized or Technical Education Required: •Incumbent will be trained as required, attend in-services and meetings as required •Must exhibit excellent communication skills (oral and written) •Must possess the ability to think on one's feet and make quick decisions •Knowledge of restraining, State and Federal criminal codes, universal precautions, PPE, MOAB, etc.

4. Examples of specific decision routinely made
1. The on-coming security dispatcher will report to the Security Dispatch Center and ascertain, from the previous dispatcher, whether there are calls for service being held.
a) If there are calls holding, the off-going dispatcher will assign the calls to the appropriate Security personnel.
b) If there are no calls holding, the on-coming dispatcher will relieve the off-going dispatcher.
2. The off-going dispatcher will review all logs to ensure that all entries are closed properly. When all logs are complete, the off-going dispatcher will be relieved.
3. At the beginning of each new shift, the on-coming dispatcher will obtain and log the name, unit number, and key set number for all Security personnel for the new shift. This information will be recorded on the radio log for the shift.
Responsibilities:
1. The security dispatcher will courteously answer all phone calls ON THE FIRST RING (when possible) stating, "Security", and the security dispatcher's name.
2. When there are multiple calls coming in at once, the security dispatcher should put calls on hold while acknowledging the incoming calls.
3. When answering the phone, the dispatcher will:
a) Answer and prioritize all phone calls.
b) Courteously take messages for all Security personnel that are unavailable.
c) Route all calls to the appropriate party.
d) Provide information, and direction, for persons needing them.
e) Gather and document all reports of incidents telephoned into Security Dispatch that do not require immediate investigation or follow-up.
f) Assign all calls for service/assistance to the appropriate Security personnel.
4. The security dispatcher will document all calls for service assistance service/assistance received via telephone, and all transmissions radioed into the Security Dispatch Center into the Security Radio Log. The following will be documented for all calls:
a) The time the call was received
b) The time that Security personnel arrived at the scene.
c) The time the call was completed
d) The unit # of the Security officer responding to the call
e) The name of the person and unit that called in the request
5. The security dispatcher will monitor all closed-circuit television monitors located in the Security Dispatch Center.
6. The security dispatcher will answer/silence, document, and dispatch the appropriate Security personnel to alarm locations.
7. The security dispatcher will place maintenance requests in the AYS computer system and document the request number in the maintenance log.
8. The security dispatcher will monitor all traffic in and out of the Security Administration Office.
9. The security dispatcher will maintain the courier log, noting all requests when called.
10. The security dispatcher will maintain the call out log, noting any absences, or notices that an employee will be late. He or she will advise the caller to call the security supervisor or security manager in that order.
11. Fire Alarm System: (will be displayed in red)
a) When alarm sounds touch ACK
b) Silence alarm by touching SILENCE on the touch screen
c) Read display indicating the location of the alarm from left to right (ie. Signature Building smoke detector, Basement outside laundry, MOB room 347, Parking Garage heat detector elevator, etc.)
d) Switch to "All Call" on base radio and give location
e) Call 6911 and give the operator the location of the alarm to page overhead
f) Reset alarm when Maintenance/Plant Operations gives the OK by touching Reset on the touch screen
12. Trouble: (will be displayed in yellow)
a) When a trouble alarm goes off touch ACK on the touch screen and all beeping will stop
