Job Title: Avionics Engineer Location: Hawthorne, CA (In-office only) Position Type: Full-Time (Permanent) Work Policy: On-site Salary: $225,000
Tech environment Focus: Avionics system architecture, high-reliability electronics, embedded flight systems Tools: Flatsats, GPS and power simulation tools, HIL test infrastructure Domains: ADCS, power systems, flight computers, space qualification testing
Role summary The Avionics Engineer will lead electronic subsystem design for the company's first spacecraft, covering system-level design, prototyping, testing, and flight validation of space-ready electronics.
Responsibilities
Own avionics system-level design and architecture Prototype and validate flight computers, communication systems, power and ADCS electronics Develop test infrastructure (flatsat, GPS sim, power sim, comms sim) Lead qualification testing (vibration, shock, thermal, thermal vacuum) Debug, iterate, and deliver flight hardware
Must-have qualifications
Designed and validated PCBAs for the space environment or other high-performance environments/vehicles Owned multiple high-reliability electronics subsystems from concept to deployment Strong debugging and system troubleshooting skills Comfortable with autonomy and high-speed iteration
Preferred qualifications
BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering Experience in spacecraft, satellites, aerospace, or high-performance adjacent fields
