Senior ORACLE Database Administrator – Realistic
Job Description
The Department of Children and Youth (DCY), Office of Information Services (OIS), is seeking an experienced Oracle database administrator who will drive high-caliber database design, solution delivery, and support in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. The successful candidate must be an influential technical leader with deep database expertise and a collaborative style that promotes a culture of innovation and well-managed excellence. We are seeking an experienced Oracle DBA capable of managing the ORACLE databases for complex systems like Ohio SACWIS that uses RAC (Real Application Clustering) architecture on UNIX.
Key skills include PL/SQL, Transparent Data Encryption, database partitioning, Shell scripting, and Oracle Data Guard. RAC experience is preferred for managing the Ohio SACWIS system on UNIX with RAC architecture. The role involves working with other database administrators across agencies managing various platforms, including Azure Cloud and Oracle Databases.
The DBA will manage Oracle databases on UNIX, ensuring best practices in planning, design, configuration, performance, and capacity to ensure high reliability and performance. Responsibilities include supporting distributed servers, monitoring performance, providing technical assistance, developing documentation and project plans, supporting DevOps tools, leading design and implementation meetings, configuring cluster nodes and storage, managing replication, and supporting strategic planning for database architecture and growth.
Additional duties include leading incident resolution, researching database products, updating security protocols, providing leadership to less experienced staff, and coordinating deployments and upgrades with project management.
Skills and Experience
PL/SQL, Transparent Data Encryption, and database partitioning experience — Required
RAC experience for managing complex systems — Preferred
Shell scripting and Oracle Data Guard — Highly desired
