Position Summary As a Senior SCADA Engineer, you will lead the design, integration, and support of SCADA systems across utility-scale energy sites. You'll work closely with electrical, controls, and IT teams to ensure the efficient and secure operation of remote assets. This role is both strategic and hands-on-ideal for someone who enjoys designing robust systems and solving complex operational challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Design, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and integrate SCADA systems for renewable energy facilities. Define SCADA architecture, network, and infrastructure requirements. Configure controllers, protection relays, and network switches. Program and commission automation systems to support grid control (voltage/frequency), site control, and automatic transfer functions. Design and deploy data interfaces between control systems, RTUs, data historians, and SCADA software using protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850. Retrofit outdated SCADA systems with standardized, secure solutions. Collaborate with internal and external SCADA support vendors for overlay and system monitoring. Document technical solutions and support a 24/7 emergency/ticketing response rotation (monthly). Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (ABET-accredited program) 3+ years of experience in SCADA, automation, or controls engineering Experience with PLC/HMI programming and industrial communication protocols Strong problem-solving and documentation skills Preferred:
Bachelor's in Electrical or Computer Engineering 6+ years of experience in power/energy/utilities Familiarity with GE or Siemens SCADA platforms Experience with SEL relays and substation control NERC compliance and cybersecurity awareness
