01097 Responsibilities
Oversees a team of web content editors who interact with other training professionals to produce online learning materials. Recommends personnel for projects based on skills and abilities. Monitors the work products of Web Content Editors and escalates concerns as appropriate. Provides editorial oversight on materials that address a wide range of subjects, from technical procedures to soft skills training. Supports Web Content Editors to meet tight deadlines in a results-oriented environment. Acts as liaison between the section and other technical staff, if necessary. Represents the section in planning meetings with government staff. Maintains thorough knowledge of topics relevant to Foreign Service Officers and applies this knowledge to help produce effective content. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education:
Master’s degree in journalism, English, Communications, or a related field. Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience. Experience managing staff and monitoring performance against goals. Experience writing and editing for online formats and platforms. Knowledge of current best practices in online content preparation. Experience with online training products such as Articulate Rise, Captivate, responsive web pages, mobile apps, podcasts, and short video scripts. Experience collaborating with subject matter experts to produce engaging online content. Ability to apply AP or other industry-standard style guides. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining positive relationships. Experience in developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading. Experience working with production teams and managing workflow. Knowledge of content relevant to the State Department. Understanding of Section 508/web accessibility guidelines. Clearance
Public Trust; ability to secure a secret-level security clearance if needed.
