The Under-The-Roof (UTR) Planning Tech team is building innovative AI-forward solutions to solve Amazon's most complex labor planning challenges across our vast fulfillment network. Our technologies directly impact how efficiently we can deliver packages to millions of customers daily, ensuring we maintain our promises while optimizing our operations. If so, the Under-The-Roof (UTR) Planning Tech team is looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer II with a strong record of achieving results to create solutions that solve our last mile's most complex operational challenges. As a key member of our engineering team, you will have the opportunity to work across multiple problem spaces using AI, Machine Learning, and all of the internet's latest and greatest technologies. You will be responsible for engineering new features that will shape how fulfillment evolves here at Amazon, with the freedom to innovate, experiment, and drive meaningful impact at unprecedented scale. Key job responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, and deploying scalable, high-performance software solutions for complex labor planning challenges; translating business requirements into elegant technical designs that can scale with Amazon's growth; building and enhancing services that optimize workforce allocation across fulfillment centers and delivery stations; collaborating with product managers, data scientists, and operations teams to define and build innovative solutions; writing high-quality, maintainable code with comprehensive test coverage; participating in architecture discussions and helping drive technical direction for the team; contributing to operational excellence by diagnosing and resolving production issues; mentoring junior engineers and helping elevate engineering practices across the team; and participating in on-call rotations to support mission-critical services. A day in the life involves solving big challenges that influence millions of customers, sellers, and products around the world. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about creating new products, features, and services from scratch while managing ambiguity and the pace of a company where development cycles are measured in weeks, not years. Basic qualifications include 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience, 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience, and experience programming with at least one software programming language. Preferred qualifications include 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience, and a bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
