Description
We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers focused on developing new device migration technologies, including exporting data from source to target devices. The role involves coordinating and setting goals for new features and improvements in our migration software, collaborating with other software teams within Apple, and working alongside quality engineers to design tests and requirements for successful customer software delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage software engineers daily
- Set project and product roadmaps in collaboration with project managers and software leadership
- Build schedules and effort estimates for projects
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage APIs
- Prioritize and address incoming issues
- Work with QA teams to validate checkpoints and test plans
- Design, review, and debug software for Mac, Android, and iPhone migrations
- Review and develop telemetry pipelines to monitor issues in the field
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience leading a low-level software team
- Understanding of core OS concepts such as networking, filesystem APIs, multi-threading, and file transfer protocols
- Expert-level programming skills in C++, Java, or Objective-C
- 7+ years in system software development
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with telemetry and field analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Splunk)
- Knowledge of building custom dynamic libraries, linker/loader flags, and binary compatibility issues
- Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, and training
- Experience with Apple SDKs and platforms (Mac, iPhone, AppleTV)
Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is $181,000 to $313,000, determined by skills, experience, and location. Employees may participate in stock programs, receive benefits like medical and dental coverage, retirement plans, discounts, educational reimbursements, and potential bonuses or relocation assistance.
