Job Title: Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Technician
Shift: Evenings, 1400-2230
Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Technician to join our healthcare team. The SPD Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of surgical instruments and patient care equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize all instruments used for surgical procedures and patient care.
- Perform daily biological and sterile supply testing and maintain accurate logs for each.
- Organize and direct instrument needs throughout the facility, assisting clinical operations with endoscopy procedures as needed.
- Stock and order supplies for the unit as directed, ensuring availability of necessary items.
- Engage in completion of competencies based on established guidelines, including AVH policies, AORN, AAMI, HSPA, and CER standards related to SPD practices.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments to maintain a professional, respectful, and efficient working environment.
- Ensure adherence to patient safety protocols and enhance communication across departments.
- Participate actively in roles outside the core responsibilities when required.
Requirements:
- Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Central Sterile Processing Technician (CER).
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
- Must be healthy enough to function safely in a low oxygen environment (8,000 feet elevation).
Additional Information:
- Housing: Travelers are responsible for their own housing arrangements. Housing costs can be significantly higher, especially during the winter months. Prospective candidates should consider housing options in nearby towns such as Basalt, Carbondale, and Glenwood Springs, where monthly rents for 1-bedroom apartments commonly exceed $3,500.
- Guaranteed Hours: While guaranteed hours are not formally promised, candidates can expect to work approximately 36-40 hours per week without the risk of downstaffing.
- Please note there will be no formal approval of requests for time off (RTO), although every attempt will be made to accommodate individual circumstances.
