Job Title: Student Information Systems Data Analyst (SIS) Department: IT Reports to: Chief Technology Officer FLSA Status: Exempt Job Status: Full-time, Classified Funding Source: Education Fund
PURPOSE STATEMENT The Student Information System (SIS) Data and Reporting Analyst is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the collection and submission of sensitive district data that is provided to the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) and utilized by the District. The Analyst facilitates knowledge of data requirements to divisions and departments to include developing and monitoring data integrity protocols and reporting and containing data breaches. The Analyst is responsible for coordinating elements of the student count, maintaining the district's civil rights collection data, managing data warehouses, and verifying the accuracy of state reporting through the IDOE data pipeline. Using multiple error/anomaly resolution techniques and tools and integrating automated error detection software, the Analyst will interpret data and create descriptive real-time and near real-time data dashboards. The Analyst will also facilitate knowledge management for district employees and the Board of Education by performing statistical analysis, demographic measurements, status measurements and data format conversions. The Analyst will assist district staff with implementation and improvement related to student information system.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only, and is not a comprehensive listing of all the duties and responsibilities performed by this position. Organize and analyze student information to investigate trends and prepare findings for a variety of formal and informal reports. Provides information to schools, staff and parents regarding the impact of data breaches and status of data security restoration actions in accordance with the Student Data Transparency and Security Act. Runs queries for the Indiana Department of Education and schools regarding student information data and state reporting issues. Assists the district's departmental and building staffs with the data formats and error resolution required to support state reporting in coordination with School district registrars. Maintains and cross-references databases of student at-risk factors (e.g., discipline outcomes, truancy, etc.). Maintains a high level of competence and skill using statistical analysis, data visualization, and presentation applications to support analysis of school district trends and Board of Education reporting requirements. Supports the IT Department with analyzing, prioritizing, and resolving SIS Help Desk tickets. Supports GCSC personnel with training in preparation for state reporting. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Three years (3) or more experience in SIS support or three years or more experience in the data management field. Experience with SQL functions, Student Information System Management, coding and processing state reports is preferred. Operating knowledge of and experience with data management and analysis-including advanced written and oral communication skills. Excellent real-time (in-person or distant) presentation ability, written communication prowess, and interpersonal skills. Possesses advanced skills in word processing spreadsheets development, and data visualization are key attributes. Excellent communication skills, to include the ability to effectively translate and teach technical information to a non-technical audience, are desired. In-depth technical knowledge of Microsoft and Apple Operating Systems, Linux, Microsoft SQL (Structured Query Language) Server, the Microsoft Office Suite, and enterprise resource planning applications. Knowledge of information security practices is desired. The ability to perform, track, and provide the current status of multiple ongoing tasks is also desired. The ability to compartmentalize and keep sensitive information confidential is highly desired. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Preferred bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced training in supporting employee databases, school district SISs, or other similar relational database management systems, or relevant certification(s) in Information Technology.
