About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated System Engineer Electrical Design to join our engineering team focused on developing advanced high-power solar and battery control systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in embedded Linux development, power electronic systems, and a strong background in both digital and analog circuit design. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to next-generation energy technologies in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Contribute to the design and development of high-power solar and battery control systems.
Modify and maintain software within a Linux embedded environment.
Support prototype bring-up, debugging, and hardware bug tracking, including signal characterization and functional verification.
Create and execute hardware and system-level test plans, including pre-compliance, reliability, and environmental testing.
Collaborate with contract manufacturers (primarily in Asia) and component suppliers to ensure quality and timely deliverables.
Participate in DFMEA, DFQ, and DFR processes to enhance product reliability and performance.
Develop numerical simulations and data analysis tools to support control algorithm creation and decision-support software.
Build and test peer-to-peer energy sharing and demand-response systems.
Prototype preventive maintenance decision-support applications.
Design algorithms for fault diagnosis and failure prediction.
Support system sizing under demand uncertainty and integrate renewable energy systems efficiently.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
5+ years of hands-on experience inelectrical design, including digital, analog, and power electronic systems.
Strong understanding of power conversion technologies converters, inverters, and rectifiers.
Proven experience with Embedded Linux Development, including Device Trees and Linux build systems (e.g., Buildroot).
Background in solar, microgrid, or renewable energy systems.
Proficient with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and electronic loads.
Skilled in design tools and environments including LabView, MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape, Altium, PLECS, Python.
Deep knowledge of wireless communication technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular).
Familiarity with Model-in-the-Loop (MIL), Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), Processor-in-the-Loop (PIL), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) development frameworks.
Awareness of international safety and EMC standards (UL, ISO, IEC, FCC, NEC).
Self-starter attitude, eager to thrive in a start-up or high-growth environment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.
Capable of standing, walking, and moving around for extended periods.
Able to climb ladders or stairs and work at elevated heights when required.
