Job Summary:
The Systems Programmer creates, modifies, maintains, and documents in-house programs in addition to customizations of licensed software in furtherance of the district's Information Systems needs. The Systems Programmer assesses the technology needs and requests of district departments and specifies, creates, and maintains software as needed to fulfill these needs as well as documenting all processes. The Systems Programmer is a direct contact of all Systems Administrators in the district, and may be called upon to troubleshoot, improve, or implement functionalities related to any of the Information Systems-supported technologies administered by these departments. The Systems Programmer acts as the highest level of escalation for technical troubleshooting and must be able to rapidly debug sophisticated software and create novel fixes for a wide range of systems, protocols, and integrations.The Systems Programmer acts as the primary database administrator for the district’s centralized databases. The Systems Programmer is responsible for maintaining the health, performance, security, and 24/7/365 availability of these systems for district administrators, staff, teachers, parents, and students. The Systems Programmer is responsible for specifying, refining, and implementing the disaster recovery procedure for any of these databases.Finally the Systems Programmer keeps abreast of the local, state, and federal reporting requirements of the district and, in cooperation with Executive Directors and the district Research department, writes programs and queries to fulfill these reporting requirements. The Systems Programmer is expected to assist in evaluating the validity of these reports and, at the direction of the Superintendent of Schools, may be designated as a ratifying authority of the school district for report submission to the appropriate state and federal authorities.
Starting Hourly Rate:
Grade 7: $78,172.00 - $109,792 DOE Work Day:

Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):
The following are required: 1. Must meet one of the following qualifications: a. A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or b. Five (5) years of equivalent work experience in a related field, or c. Three (3) years of experience as a technician within the IT department at the FNSBSD, or d. A combination of education and experience equivalent to the above. 2. Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development. 3. Extensive application support experience with PowerSchool Premier. 4. Strong technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Microsoft Windows,Apple OS, and Linux. 5. Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including DNS,HTTP, SSL, LDAP, and TCP/IP. 6. Extensive knowledge of current programming languages, including Ruby, Python, Perl, UNIX Shell Languages, PowerShell, Windows Batch, and web applications in HTML/CSS/Javascript 7. Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives. 8. In-depth knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws. 9. Strong understanding of project management principles. 10. Strong skills in using Microsoft Office Suite. 11. Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of clients.
