Position Are you detail-oriented with a passion for numbers and organization? Join our team at Renton Technical College! We are seeking a temporary Accounting Assistant to provide support to Accounting staff by performing a variety of routine tasks related to financial record-keeping and reporting. This position reports to the Accounting Manager and provides valuable hands-on experience in accounting practices.
This is a part-time, temporary assignment of about 17 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Include
Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically minoritized populations) and create an educational and work environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Assist with reconciling accounts and statements. Assist with verifying account data. Follow up on past due receivable accounts. Assist with maintenance and filing of financial records. Populate various system-generated financial reports. Communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing, with college employees, departments and outside agencies. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality. Perform other related projects and assignments as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Associate degree in accounting, business, finance, or closely related field preferred. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) preferred. Demonstrated ability to reconcile accounts preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, specifically experience creating & editing documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Demonstrates attention to detail as well as previous experience maintaining accurate records, managing multiple tasks, and planning and organizing work in order to meet changing priorities and deadlines preferred. Experience or participation with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working / learning environment. Demonstrated ability to promote universal design and accessibility. Proficiency in (or ability to learn within 6 month of hire) the production of accessibly content, whether print or electronic. Ability to represent the college in a positive and professional manner, while using tact, discretion and courtesy. Ability to speak a regionally top spoken language other than English is preferred (Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, and Chinese).
WORKING CONDITIONS: Working hours are generally aligned to business hours, Monday - Friday. Work is mostly sedentary in nature, performed in an office environment. Frequent use of a computer and exposure to terminal screens is required. This is mostly an in-person/on-campus position; remote work may occur as business permits.
