Summary
Tampa VA Healthcare System's Gastroenterology Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Physician (Gastroenterology). You must be an excellent communicator and team player who is adaptable to the needs of a growing medical center.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at initial appointment are deemed qualified.
Basic Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if qualified citizens are unavailable)
- Degree of doctor of medicine or osteopathic medicine from an approved school
- Current unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
- Completed residency training in an accredited program leading to eligibility for board certification
- Residents in ACGME/AOA accredited programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) under supervision
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Must pass a pre-employment physical and meet physical requirements (lifting, reaching, hearing, etc.)
Duties
- Position eligible for Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), with application required within four months of appointment

- Clinical responsibilities include outpatient and inpatient care in gastroenterology and hepatology, including procedures like endoscopy (EUS and ERCP preferred)
- Teaching responsibilities involve educating medical students, residents, and fellows, with an academic affiliation with the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine
- Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with potential for shift variations based on facility needs
