HR Generalist
Location: Indianapolis, IN Reports To: CPO
The role: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented HR Generalist to support a broad range of human resources functions. This role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with employment laws, administering employee benefits and leave programs, coordinating workers' compensation processes, supporting payroll functions, and managing day-to-day HR operations including onboarding and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, a service-oriented mindset, and a working knowledge of HR best practices. What you will do:
Compliance & Policy Administration
Ensure HR policies and practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations Assist with audits and maintain up-to-date documentation on compliance-related matters Support the development and communication of company policies and procedures Employee Benefits Administration
Administer health, dental, vision, retirement, and other benefit programs Serve as a point of contact for employee benefit questions and issue resolution Coordinate open enrollment and facilitate benefits education initiatives Leave Management & Workers' Compensation
Manage FMLA, ADA, and other leave programs in accordance with legal requirements and internal policies Process workers' compensation claims and coordinate with insurance providers and internal stakeholders Maintain accurate records related to employee leave and workplace injuries Payroll Support
Collaborate with the payroll team or vendor to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee pay Review payroll data for accuracy and assist with resolving discrepancies Support year-end tax document distribution and recordkeeping Onboarding & Offboarding
Coordinate new hire onboarding, including pre-employment screenings, benefits enrollment, and orientation Assist with employee offboarding, including final pay and exit interviews HR Administration
Maintain personnel files and HRIS data with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality Generate reports and track key HR metrics as needed Provide administrative support to the HR team and contribute to ongoing process improvements Recruiting
Assist in recruiting efforts as needed Conduct phone and Teams interviews with candidates, following a structured interview process Create and amend job descriptions as needed Collaborate with Hiring Managers on candidates Project Management & Miscellaneous Administrative Duties
Take on special projects as needed Respond to employee ad-hoc requests and exercise resourcefulness to help support any challenges our team faces throughout their day-to-day operations Support the HR function in an administrative capacity, coordinating and scheduling as needed What you'll need:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience) 3+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or similar HR role; 5+ years preferred Working knowledge of employment law, benefits administration, and payroll processes Proficiency with HRIS systems, ChatGPT, and Microsoft Office Suite Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism Experience with BambooHR Urgency and drive to take initiative and execute with little guidance PHR, SHRM-CP, or related certification Who we are: McGuire Sponsel is a national specialty tax consulting firm that has experienced tremendous growth while serving leading accounting firms and businesses across the country.
