Your role will involve analyzing blood and other body fluids, reviewing and analyzing data from calibration, quality control, and patient testing. You will collaborate with clinical staff to ensure high-quality and accurate ordering, collection, labeling, and testing of lab specimens, as well as assist in training students and new staff. Key Responsibilities: - Calibrate and operate automated laboratory instruments.- Perform manual testing according to established procedures.- Stain and interpret blood smears of biological specimens.- Conduct laboratory tests across different areas on a rotation basis.- Enter, approve, and validate results while manipulating data in the Laboratory Information System.- Monitor results, quality control, and instrument conditions, investigating outliers and deviations.- Troubleshoot and repair instruments as needed and assist in developing new procedures.- Prepare reagents and controls for laboratory testing.- Serve as a Team Lead when required, overseeing instrument calibration, manual testing according to procedures, and participating in quality control evaluations. Qualifications: - Minimum: B.S. degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent qualifications for Montana Licensure.- Preferred: Certification as a Clinical Lab Scientist or Medical Technologist (ASCP or equivalent).- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional demeanor.- Proficient in computer applications including MS Office, EMR, and standard office equipment. Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.- Continuous sitting with periods of standing and walking.- Occasional need for bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.- Continuous fine-finger movements and visual acuity for data preparation and analysis. Schedule Requirements: This role requires regular attendance and may require work beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts. On-call duties may also be necessary. Additional Information: The organization reserves the right to cancel three (3) shifts per 13-week contract in the event of low census or unforeseen circumstances.
