As we grow, we seek a payroll manager to oversee company finances and ensure timely employee payments. Key Responsibilities Ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in payroll processing. Handle data entry, auditing, reporting, and tax filings throughout the payroll lifecycle. Collaborate with HR and Finance to connect human data with financial data and ensure adherence to pay and hour regulations across all locations, including California. Manage payroll for hourly and salaried employees across multiple divisions, ensuring timely processing of salaries, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions. Update employee data such as hours, taxes, and benefits to ensure payroll accuracy. Maintain records of W-2s, 1099s, payroll taxes, and other regulatory documents. Stay compliant with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, especially California labor laws. Prepare and submit accurate payroll and financial reports monthly and annually. Serve as the primary contact for employee payroll concerns, handling them strategically and tactfully. Review and suggest improvements to the payroll system. Coordinate with compliance analysts and auditors by providing payroll records and reports. Assist with payroll processing and advise participants as needed.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field. At least five years of payroll experience, including two years in a leadership role. Proficiency with ADP Payroll, Paylocity, QuickBooks, and timekeeping systems. Thorough understanding of California labor laws related to payroll taxes, wages, and hours. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and privacy skills. Knowledge of Excel and other data analysis/reporting tools. Certification as a CPP is preferred.
