Job Description: Position Overview:
We’re seeking an experienced and business-minded lawyer to join our legal team. This individual will be instrumental in driving legal strategy across the organization while serving as a trusted partner to senior leadership and business unit leaders. The ideal candidate is a strong generalist with expertise in consumer finance, legal acumen, exceptional writing and analytical skills, and the confidence to lead cross-functional teams through complex legal and business decisions.
Responsibilities include:
Legal Strategy & Business Partnership:
Support the Chief Legal Officer/General Counsel in providing strategic legal guidance, offering practical legal solutions aligned with the company’s goals.
HR & Employment Law Support:
Advise on employment matters including performance management, workplace investigations, terminations, policy development, and compliance with labor laws. Act as a legal partner to HR.
Vendor & Contract Management:
Draft, review, negotiate contracts, and develop templates and standards for efficiency and risk mitigation.
Consumer Privacy:
Ensure compliance with privacy laws (GLBA, GDPR, CCPA), provide guidance to teams, and mitigate privacy risks.
Intellectual Property:
Manage and monitor the company's IP including trademarks and service marks.
Cross-Functional Support:
Collaborate across teams to identify legal risks, support transactions, and ensure compliance.
Regulatory Experience:
Support legal work related to regulations, interpret laws, and update policies to remain compliant.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
Minimum 8 years of legal experience, preferably including 2-3 years in-house.
Experience in consumer financial services or a similar regulated industry.
Support experience across HR/legal domains.
Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
Excellent communication skills for presenting to senior leaders.
Knowledge of HTML and IronClad is a plus.
Ability to work independently and lead projects.
